AUSTIN, TX – On the opening day of the 89th Texas Legislature, MOVE Texas is doubling down on its commitment to empowering young Texans by unveiling its bold 2025 Get Sh*t Done Agenda and announcing the relaunch of its groundbreaking Anti-Lege Lege Club. Together, these initiatives aim to energize the next generation of leaders and drive forward a transformative policy agenda that addresses the defining issues of young Texans.
“The Texas Legislature wasn’t designed for us to have a seat at the table, but we’re pulling up anyway,” said Claudia Yoli, Executive Director of MOVE Texas. “Through the Anti-Lege Lege Club and our Get Sh*t Done Agenda, we’re empowering young Texans to cut through the noise, make their voices heard, and demand bold policies.”
The Anti-Lege Lege Club, first launched during the 88th Legislature, provided over 200 young Texans with leadership, organizing, and public speaking opportunities, culminating in the inspiring We Know Our Worth Rally. This year, the program returns with an expanded focus on sustained advocacy, skill-building workshops, and legislative actions. MOVE Texas invites all young Texans to take part in shaping the future of Texas and join the club here.
In tandem, MOVE Texas is introducing its 2025 Get Sh*t Done Agenda, a comprehensive roadmap to ensure the 89th Legislature protects and expands the rights and opportunities of all Texans. The agenda features three key pillars:
- Expanding and Protecting Democratic Participation: MOVE Texas supports policies that protect and uplift all voters, such as online, same-day, and automatic voter registration. MOVE Texas is prepared to fight against discriminatory policies, including citizenship checks and restrictions on campus organizing, that suppress voting rights for young Texans, Texans of color, and Texans with disabilities.
- Advancing Green Climate Solutions: MOVE Texas believes that all Texans have a right to clean air, water, and land, and advocates for policies that promote clean energy solutions, protect frontline communities, push for climate catastrophe preparedness, and prioritize green jobs and infrastructure.
- Ensuring Freedom for All Texans: MOVE Texas fights for every Texans’ right to live authentically and safely. They are committed to safeguarding Texans’ reproductive freedoms, defending LGBTQ+ Texans against discriminatory legislation, and driving efforts to prevent sexual assault and domestic violence.
MOVE Texas encourages all young Texans to make their voices heard and participate in the democratic process. Together, we can make sure that the voices of young people are impossible for Texas’ 89th Legislature to ignore.
