Fernanda Maldonado

Field Director

Fernanda Maldonado is a first-generation Texan born and raised in both cities of the Laredo, Texas-Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas border. She graduated from Texas State University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Journalism. While there, she interned with local publications in Laredo and San Marcos, which sparked an interest in community-centered conversations and local politics.

She’s held multiple positions at MOVE Texas throughout the years, starting as a Field Organizing Fellow in 2018 before transitioning to a full-time position in 2019 as MOVE’s Austin Field Organizer. As of January 2021, Fernanda now leads the statewide operations for the entire Field department in youth voter registration, civic education, campus organizing, and much more as their Field Director. In her free time, Fernanda enjoys spending time with her pup Prince Charles, traveling the world, and hours-long pop culture deep dives.
