Austin, TX – As election night unfolds, MOVE Texas is taking a moment to recognize and celebrate the young organizers who powered this year’s movement. From voter registration drives to securing polling locations across Texas, these leaders have shown that democracy is alive and thriving in Texas because young people are willing to step up, organize, and advocate for change, despite efforts to suppress their vote. This statement is a love letter to each and every young Texan who has put in the work and made their voices heard this election season:
Dear Young Organizers,
Tonight, as the last polls close across Texas, MOVE Texas wants to acknowledge your deep dedication and love for Texas, our communities, and for our Democracy – in spite of a year that has deeply challenged this commitment. Thank you for the rigor, discipline, and joy you’ve brought to this journey. You’ve shown up with everything you have–proving that while elections may be a moment, young people like you are the movement. Each of you is a testament to the power of resilience, and no matter what happens tonight, we celebrate that spirit.
You’ve fought hard to reach this exact moment, and every step has been a victory in itself. Together, you’ve made sure that young voices powerfully echo in every corner of Texas. Through massive voter registration efforts, civic holiday celebrations, and ensuring access to polling locations on campuses and across counties, you’ve reimagined our democracy, making sure young people aren’t just included but heard. You’ve turned every hurdle into an organizing opportunity, showing that young Texans will not back down from a challenge.
No election results can define the power of what we’ve built. Every time a young person registers to vote for the first time, steps into a polling place, holds all institutions accountable, or pledges to join our movement, we win. We know we’re voting and organizing in one of the hardest states to do so–and yet, you’ve shown up time and time again, for each other and for our communities, because we know that if we don’t do it, no one will.
You’ve already given this election everything you can. As we wait for results, remember: this is our movement, and it doesn’t stop here.
